Ross Lawhead was born in Chicago, Illinois but has lived most of his life in Oxford, England. He studied Scriptwriting for Film & Television at Bournemouth University, where he was hired to co-write and pencil the !Hero graphic novel.
The first book of his modern-day fantasy series, An Ancient Earth, was published in 2011. He taught himself Anglo-Saxon in order to more accurately translate material for that series. A Hero’s Throne followed The Realms Thereunder, and the trilogy ended with the moving Fearful Gates in 2014. He has also co-written two humorous books of very bad poetry with scriptwriter Russell Thompson, entitled The Colour Papers.
In 2015 Ross was asked to return to the !Hero series and finish co-authoring the novels which he and his father, Historical Fiction and Fantasy author Stephen Lawhead, began writing in 2003. These will be published by Sydney Lane Press in 2016. Ross writes, illustrates, paints, and leads tour groups through Iceland. He lives in Edinburgh with his wife, in an apartment built over 100 years ago, just in view of the castle.
